Dublin CLASS Night: Friday 07 Jul 2017

The Dublin Chapter of CLASS Ireland is holding another evening of education.

All participants are advised to familiarise themselves with the CLASS Code of Conduct prior to attending. Any questions on the code of conduct may be directed to us using the Contact Us form.

Places are limited, so please Contact Us to reserve your place and to confirm your role* to ensure that an appropriate ratio of staff and students are present.

*Note: Roles include:

  • Teacher (top) – all teachers will be given 20 minutes to deliver a lesson to the class, and will be responsible for student discipline during this period, with the assistance of the head and assistant teachers as necessary.
  • Assistant Teacher (top) – Assistant teachers are responsible for monitoring student conduct and assisting with discipline as needed.
  • Head Teacher (top) – Head teachers assist with disciplining students removed from lessons for serious infractions.
  • Student (bottom) – Students are expected to behave ahem appropriately, as failure to do so will not be tolerated.
  • Monitor (any) – Monitors will observe the scene and assist the organiser in enforcing the event rules. Note- attendees may monitor for only a portion of the evening if they also wish to take on one of the other roles above.

Participants are reminded that punctuality is crucial to ensuring the scene flows smoothly. Latecomers (students and staff) will be dealt with harshly (and not in the fun way), as tardiness is both unprofessional and a decidedly uncreative way to court trouble. Note that the venue itself has a strict no-alcohol policy, and anyone arriving under the influence will not be admitted.

Doors open at 6:30pm. All participants are asked to arrive at the venue by 7pm. The venue provides free coffee, tea, and biscuits, so be sure to be on time for a snack before we begin! Participants may also change into costume at this time. The venue toilets may be used for changing, but note that the toilet is located a short distance down a shared corridor. The classroom is a private area and may be used for changing. Note that no alcoholic beverages may be brought to the venue. Some of us may venture elsewhere for a drink nearby afterwards.

Promptly at 7:15, the event will begin with out-of-character introductions of participants and the venue staff and review of the timetables, monitoring guidelines, and event procedures.

Lessons begin at 7:30 and will last approximately 2 hours. After lessons are complete, participants are free to mingle until the venue closes at 10pm.

Dress Code

Dress for your intended role. Effort is appreciated. Modest dress is required for this event, and note that clothing will not be removed for punishments at this event.

There is a 15 Euro admission charge for this event, payable upon arrival.

Dublin Munch: 11 July 2017

CLASS Ireland will be holding another munch in Dublin on Tuesday, 11 July at 8pm.  Particularly for those new to role play events, the munch provides an opportunity to get to know other group members in a vanilla setting before attending play events.

Refer to the event description on FetLife to RSVP and for instructions on how to attend. For those not on FetLife and looking to attend the munch, please use the contact form here to express interest and we will reply with information on how to attend.  Also please read the munch guidelines for an idea of what to expect.

Dublin CLASSroom

The Dublin Chapter of CLASS Ireland recently relocated to a larger classroom, which is starting to look the part!

The new facility has the advantage of a Head Teacher’s study. . .

. . .not that the Head’s presence has made much of an impact on the students’ behaviour, if the school punishment log is any indication!

Class Ireland’s Virtual Visual Event: June 2017

Delighted to announce Class Ireland’s second virtual event!

All interested participants are invited to submit a creative self portraiture photograph under the theme of ‘My role in Class’ and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone’s personalised interpretations!

After submission, photographs will be open to comments from teachers and fellow students. But the final choice of favourite photos (2-3 pieces) will be decided by Ms. Dante, a recent addition to our excellent group of teachers.

All entries must be submitted before 8pm on Tuesday, 20th of June 2017 for entry into the prize draw. (GMT time)

If partaking in this event please consider the following:

  • Stick within your own limits and comfort levels – no need for faces etc, be comfortable with the photo you submit first and foremost.
  • Stick to the FetLife guidelines of uploading photos if uploading image there, it must be your photo or you must have permission to upload it from the photographer and if others are involved, those too. (Follow this if submitting a submission any other way too.)
  • Be SS&C. (Safe, Sane & Consensual).
  • Be creative, entries will not be judged by photographic talent or ability but by creativity and effort put into entry.
  • Have fun, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, the main aim is to enjoy oneself.

Judging and Prizes:

Judging will take place the evening of the 20th of June after the event finish time (8pm GMT) and winners will be announced soon afterwards.

This is not a photographic ability contest. Entries will be judged solely on creativity and effort. Judging will be done by Ms. Dante for this event.

As a prize, Ms. Dante will draw/paint her selected favourite submissions (2-3 pieces) and gift a scan or high quality photograph to the owners of the original photograph by PDF or email.

Submitting a photography piece to this event implies that you are OK with this prize and are giving permission to Ms. Dante to potentially draw your piece. You are free to change your mind at any stage but must let her know if permission to replicate your photograph has been revoked.

How to submit an entry:

  • The instructions below assume all participants are active on FetLife. If you would like to participate but do not have a FetLife account, let us know using the Contact form here.
  • Before 8pm GMT on Friday, 16th of June, CLASS_Irl will start a thread on the CLASS Ireland group titled “Virtual Visual Event Submissions”.
  • Anyone wishing to submit an entry shall post the photograph to their own profile (for technical difficulties with posting, see this FAQ page, and let us know by using the Contact Form if assistance is needed).
  • After posting your entry, submit a link to the work on the submission thread in the CLASS Ireland Group (to get a link to the photograph, go to the uploaded image, copy the address from the address bar, and paste the address as a comment on the submission thread).
  • Enjoy (and participate in) the banter. Chat and compliment each other. Talk about why you chose to do something in particular. Have fun as we said!
  • Entries must be submitted before 8pm GMT on Tuesday the 20th of June, 2017, to be considered in the draw.

Contact us with any questions or post any queries in the comment section below.

CLASS AGM 09 Jun 2017 8:30 PM

The CLASS Board of Trustees is holding its annual meeting on Friday 09 Jun in Galway city centre. The open portion of the meeting will begin at 8:30pm. This is not a munch. Although there will be a social component to the evening, the primary focus will be a discussion of the organisation of the CLASS group, accomplishments and issues from the past year, and goals for future development. Anyone with an interest in the behind-the-scenes aspects of running the group is invited to attend; please get in touch using the contact form.
